Ethlyn “Essie” Burns Cobbs

Ethlyn “Essie” Burns Cobbs, of Huntsville, formerly of Selma, 80, died Friday, July 4, 2003.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rector Polk Van Zandt and the Rev. Robert Childers officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include sons Richard Christopher Cobbs Jr. or Kissimmee, Fla.; Lewis Edward Cobbs of Huntsville and John Hurter Cobbs of New Orleans and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Cobbs was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for more than 40 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Ossian Club, the public library or to historical preservation.

The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Monday, July 7.

Vivian Olene Sheffield Agee

Vivian Olene Sheffield Agee, 88, of Pine Hill, died Saturday, July 5, 2003.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilson Kindricks officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetary with O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include husband Alonzo Agee of Pine Hill; son Kennon R. Agee of Pine Hill; daughter Jeanette Agee Parker of Auburn; brother Clay Sheffield of Hoover and sister Dolly Johnson of Selma; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers George and John Sheffield and sisters Vera McKinney and Dora Crocker.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Kimbrough Methodist Church in Pine Hill or to a favorite charity.
