Landon Gage Long

Landon Gage Long, 1 month, of Plantersville, died May 26, at his home.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., May 28, at Plantersville Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Golson officiating. Burial will follow on Plantersville Baptist Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include, mother, Latasha Faulk; father, Dennis Long Jr.; sister, Makenzie Paige Long of Plantersville; grandparents, Lester and Patricia Reaves of Greenville, Tommy and Patricia Herrod of Plantersville, Randy Faulk of Greenville, Dennis Long of Wetumpka; great grandparents, Charles and Janice Jarvis, Charles and Sue Long all of Selma; Frances Black of Luverene, Calvin Eddins of Greenville; aunts and uncles, Michelle and Ronald Gray, Ashley Long, T.J. Herrod, Jamie Herrod, Matthew Long all of Plantersville, Tiffany and Tim Ford of Tuscaloosa, Cheryl and Michael Jarvis of Selma, Yolanda Faulk and Derek Mount, Crystal and Ricky Crysell, Andrew Odom, Randy Faulk Jr. all of Greenville, 11 cousins.

Family visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Carrie Norris Rives

Carrie Norris Rives, 83, of Pleasant Hill, died Wednesday, May 26, at a local hospital.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 29, at 11:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. David Thomas and Bishop Chuck Jones officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday night from 6-8 p.m. at the home of Steve and Kay Stephens.

Mrs. Rives is survived by daughters, Kay (Steven) Stephens of Selma, Care (Greg) Clemons of Montgomery; sons, William D. (Lynne) Rives of Brewton, Charley (Pam) Rives, Rodney Rives all of Pleasant Hill; sister, Cindy (CG) Rives of Pleasant Hill; brother, Tommy (Myra) Norris of Pleasant Hill, and Clarence (Marie) Norris of Montgomery; grandchildren, Claudia (Chris Lee) of Baton Rouge, La, Carrie (Michael) McCurry of Nashville, Tennessee, Amanda Rives of Birmingham, Ben Rives of Letohatchee, Rebecca (Julian) Moore of Fitzpatrick, Alan and Anna Clemons of Montgomery; great grandchildren, Rives and Jackson Lee of Baton Rouge, La, Jay and Abby Moore of Fitzpatrick.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Dunklin Rives; her parents, three sisters, one brother.

Active pallbearers will be Rod Rives, Ben Rives, Alan Clemons, Chris Lee, Julian Moore, and Michael McCurry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Mayo, Johnny Stringer, and Major General (Ret.) William Harrell.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Associations or the South Dallas Presbyterian Restoration Association.

Katie Boykin

Katie Boykin, 95, of Dallas County, died May 24, at home.

Services will be held on May 29, at 12 p.m. at the Second Missionary Baptist with Rev. D. Moore officiating and Lewis Brother directing. Burial will be in the Boykin Family Cemetery.

Survivors include sons, James (Gweneth) Boykin, Isreal (Ruby) all of New York, Isiah (Doris) of Minter; daughters, Ida Boykin of Minter; Katie Boykin of New York; sister, Carrie Coleman of New York; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be sons and friends.

Sedrick F. Jackson, Jr., 25, died in Cleveland, Oh.

Services will be held Saturday, May 29, at 12:00 noon at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Coatopa, Al with the Rev. Wesley Winston officiating and the Larkin & Scott Funeral directing.

Isiah Cooper

Isiah Cooper, 60, of Selma, died May 21, at a local hospital.

Services will be held May 29, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tabernacle of Praise with Pastor Efell Williams officiating and Miller Funeral directing. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Survivors include wife, Pat Cooper; three children, Larry Strong, Robert Cooper all of Elizabeth, NJ; Willie Cooper of Selma; four stepchildren, Calvin (Helen) Strong, James (Stephanie) Strong Jr., Barbara Strong (Charlie) Marshall, Mary Jean Strong; one brother, James Cooper of Chicago, IL; three sisters, two aunts Lue Ellen Hunter, Lola Mae Steen of Selma, Alberta Jones of Chicago, IL; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; host of nephews, nieces, relatives.

Paulette Reid Cooper

Paulette Reid Cooper, 59, Executive Vice President of Christian Benevolent Funeral Home of Mobile, died May 23, at her son home in Washington, D.C.

Services will be held Sunday, May 30, at 1:00 p.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery.

Her remains will lie in state at Christian Benevolent, Friday, May 28, from 12-5 p.m.

A memorial service will be held Saturday May 29, at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Gabe Davis officiating and Christian Benevolent Funeral Home of Mobile directing.

Survivors include her son, Casey Cooper and daughter-in-law Amy Jeffress of Washington D.C.; brother, Warner Reid Jr.; sister-in-law Connie Reid of Altamonte Springs, FL; two grandsons, Lincoln and Leo Cooper of Washington D.C.; niece, Chanelle Reid of Alamonte Springs, FL, uncle, Lloyd Barnes of Cincinnati, OH, cousin, Bessie Ferguson of Selma; the Cooper family, other relatives and friends.

Ms. Cooper was born on March 25, 1945 in Sardis, AL and raised in Selma, AL. She graduated from the Alabama Lutheran Academy (now Concordia College) in Selma and Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA. She settled in Mobile with her former husband, William M. Cooper, who died in 1987. In 1976, Ms. Cooper moved to Altamonte, FL, where she was a claims manager with CNA Insurance Company. She returned to Mobile in 1996 to assume management responsibilities with Christian Benevolent.
