Freeman Boyd

Freeman Boyd, 52, of Dallas County, died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Mt. Olive No.1 Baptist Church with the Rev. A. L. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include four brothers, Willie, Chester, Charles, and Isiah all of Selma; four sisters, Lillie, Carrie, Catherine and Margarett all of Selma; two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law and a hot of nieces nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman and Corine Boyd.

Active pallbearers are friends.

William D. Tanner Sr.

William “Billy” D. Tanner Sr., 64, of Demopolis, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Southside Memorial Park with the Rev. Gary McDaniel officiating and Southside Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include sons, William D. “Del” Tanner Jr., of Demopolis, David W. Tanner of Mobile and Frank Tanner of Demopolis; daughters, Patricia Scott and Rebecca Herrington both of Jemison; brothers, Robert Tanner, Daryl Tanner, Keith Tanner, Paul Tanner and Tim Tanner; sisters, Margaret Tanner Vann and Faye Tanner Jones, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, John Adam Tanner.

Family visitation will be one hour prior to service on Friday.

Mr. Tanner was born Sept. 3, 1937 in Cullman, to the late Farley and Pauline Tanner. He resided in Gadsden for several years before moving to Demopolis. He retired from Oxford Manufacturing in Selma after several years of employment. He was a Baptist. He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Florida M. Jones

Florida M. Jones, 76, of Selma, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at a healthcare facility in Huntsville.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Chapel of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home with Roosevelt Marzette officiating. Burial will follow in Sandridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Kings Bend Rd. with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include seven sons, Leroy Jones Robert Jones, Walter Jones, Samuel Maul, Phillip Maul, Larry Jones and Randy Jones; two daughters, Rebecca Jones and Patricia Jones; two brothers, Auguster Maul and Leonard Maul; one sister, Annie M. Bagley; 19 grandchildren; four daughters-in-law.

Active pallbearers are Leroy Jones, Phillip Maul, Larry Jones, Walter Jones, Randy Jones and Robert Jones.

Honorary pallbearers are family and friends.

Daisy Stevenson, 89, of New Orleans, La., formerly of Selma, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002

in New Orleans.

Services are Saturday, May 18, at Queen of Peace Church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Wiley Stevenson; one daughter, Veronica Stevens; one sister, Fannie L. Morton; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces.

Leola Mosley

Leola Mosley, 87, of Dallas County, died Wednesday, May15, 2002 at her home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one sons, Joseph Smith; one daughter, Martha Hicks; six brothers, Joseph, Charlie, Preston, James, Hezikah and Willie Mosley; seven sisters, Emma Peoples, Evelyn Conway, Carrie Smith, Geneva Cole, Mary A. Camner, Virginia Bennett and Louise Harris; 12 grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; two brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Carl Hollins and Willie Hollins.

Willie M. Wilson

Willie Mae Wilson, 91 of Selma, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at her home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2002 at Little Elam Baptist Church with the Rev. Thornton Steward officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include four sons, Allen Wilson, Arie Wilson Sr., Jessie Lee Wilson and Payton Wilson; one daughter, Inez Motley; two brothers, Payton Williams and Jimmie Williams; 25 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 2 sons-in-law; four daughters-in-law; 15 nephews; 10 nieces; and seven step-children.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Williams and a sister, Susan Mitchell.

Lizzie T. Bailey

Lizzie T. Bailey, 96, of Marion, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at a Marion nursing home.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, May 18, at Reynolds Chapel AME Church, Newbern, with the Rev. W.H. Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Norfleet Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing

Survivors include two sons, Roosevelt (Maggie) Tubbs of Newbern and John T. (Phyllis) Tubbs of Violet, La.; two daughters, Rosie T. (Hoover L.) Kynard of Marion and Sara L. (Cornelius) Key Jr. of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; children she reared, Jean, Maurice and Lyndon.; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; two god children, Edd and Mary Miree; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and Perry County Nursing Home family.
