Peoples Bank defeated Cosby Ice 19-12 on Friday, May 10, 2002 in 5-6 boys’ baseball action.

For the winning team, Cameron Walker and Austin Tubbs had three hits each. Teammate Cyron Ellis had four hits and scored three times, while John Major and Kevin Seay got three hits apiece and scored once.

Cosby Ice’s Michael Parker got three hits and scored twice for the day. John Olinger and John Murrey also got three hits apiece, and each scored once. Larry Puckett got two hits.

Selma Printing 15, Rush Carpets 5

Selma Printing grabbed a win as they defeated Rush Carpets 15-5 on Friday, May 10, 2002.

Abram Dudley of Selma Printing got three hits and scored three times, while teammates Edward Jackson, Alex Davis, and Troy Powe each got two hits and scored once. Terrance Chapelle also got two hits.

Rush Carpets player Laderius Parker got two hits and scored twice, while Trent Salter and Ryan Tindall also got two hits. Salter scored once. Teammates Brandon Baughan and Justin Chandler each got one hit in the effort.

Frazer Group 22, Ray Davis and Co. 11

Frazer Group defeated Ray Davis and Co. in 5-6 boys’ baseball action on May 10, 2002.

The winning team’s Dontae Stiles got four hits and scored an equal number of times, while Derrick Walker got three hits and scored three times. Chris Raymond also got three hits and scored three times, but he added a home run to the winning effort. Teammates Leon Craig and Dawan Harville got two hits and scored once each.

Ray Davis and Co.’s Blake Harris got two hits, one of them a home run. He also scored twice. Teammates Hunter Sanders amd Queshun Thigpen each got two hits and scored once. Christen Allday scored once on one hit, and Josh Adams got two hits for the day.

Selma Hardware 10, Captain D’s 8

Selma Hardware scored seven runs in the first inning to beat Captain D’s 10-8 on Friday, May 10, 2002.

Alston Ivey and Joe Gibson scored two times each for the winning team. Teammates Jalen Cole, Aaron Cogle, Sabin Mobley, Aaron Lawrence, Peyton Cunningham, and Reid Deason scored a run each.

For Captain D’s, Luke Reynolds, Austin Allen, Joshua Martin, Darin Rogers, Charles Maxwell, Davian Brantley, Jamarius Barnett, and Devonte Ramsey scored one time each.

Rountree Electric 21, Henry Brick 8

Eric Armstead and Kobe Tolbert scored three times each to lead Rountree Electric to a 21-8 victory over Henry Brick on Friday, May 10, 2002.

Chris Jones, Larison Waters, Bernard Vasser, James Wells, and Ray Petterson scored two times each while Adam Seele, Josh Jetter, and Navarius Walker scored one time each.

For Henry Brick, JonDarrius Gregory scored two runs, followed by Hunter Hale, Logan Roberts, Stanhope Frazier, Caleb Harris, Tripp Harrison, and Laddarrius Fullen Wilder with one run each.

Jacobe Relph led Discount Tire to defeat Turf Services in a close 19-18 game on Friday, May 10, 2002.

Relph scored four times in the winning effort, followed by Prince Tolbert, Mark Black, Tikeem Cooper, and Joelton Smith, who scored three times each. Teammates John Hill, Derrell Curry, Heath Day, and David Holloman scored a run each.

For Turf Services, Tyler Talley and Malcolm Hughes scored three times each, while Ford Manderson, Brandon Smith, and Xavier Walker scored twice. Chase Cammack, Taylor Powell, Kelvin Mitchell, Peyton Matthews, and Anthony Caver scored one run apiece.

George’s Paint and Body 10, Zeigler’s 0

George’s Paint and Body garnered a win on Saturday, May 11, 2002, as they shut out Zeigler’s 10-0 in Dixie Boys 11-12 baseball action.

Leading offensively for the winning team were Jarius Perkins and Matthew McIlwain, who each got two hits. Jimmy McCormick and Wesley Stone added a hit apiece for George’s Paint and Body.

Fred Ghant led from the plate for Zeigler’s. He got four hits.

Cougar Minit Shop 17, Mr. Roy’s 2

Cougar Minit Shop defeated Mr. Roy’s 17-2 on Saturday, May 11, 2002.

Jamarius Strong led from the plate for the winning team, getting three hits. Teammate Travious Mitchell got two hits, and Mario Ross got one hit.

For Mr. Roy’s, James Ellis led offensively with four hits. Zeeshan Ali added three hits to the effort.

Pancake House grabbed a win as they shut out Pace 1441 6-0 on Saturday, May 11, 2002.

Matthew Rhodes lef Pancake House in the win, getting four hits. Matthew Roberts followed with two hits, while teammate Justan Foman got one hit.

Pancake House’s Joshua Ashcroft got five hits for the game, while Will Ingram added a single hit to the effort.

Royal Vending 11, Brown Drug 4

Royal Vending took home an 11-4 victory over Brown Drug on Saturday, May 11, 2002.

Richard Long hit a home run to aid in Royal Vending’s win. Teammate James Bennett also got three hits, while Thomas Austin got two hits and Blaine Whitaker got one hit.

Brown Drug’s Rodney Lewis got four hits for the game, and Courtney Martin got two hits.

A.G. Edwards 4, Carter Drugs 1

Brad Averitt and Clint Maroney teamed up to pitch a no-hitter for A.G. Edwards against Carter Drugs on Saturday, May 11, 2002, at the Sportsplex.

Averitt pitched four innings, giving up no hits with ten strike outs. Maroney pitched two innings with five strike outs and no hits.

Justin Moorer of Carter Drugs also pitched a good game, giving up two runs on four hits and nine strikeouts.

Getting hits for A.G. Edwards were Patrick Bonner and Averitt, who had two hits each, followed by Braxton Fuller and Daniel Lee with a hit apiece.

With only two hits, Selma Times-Journal managed to beat WWISP 5-4 on Saturday, May 11, 2002.

For Selma Times-Journal, Michael Blunt and Taurus Richardson had a hit each.

For WWISP, DeAnthony Hyatt and Sam Tate had two hits. Teammates Walter Grantham, Jay Gilmer, and Dylan Shelby had a hit apiece.

Regions Bank used five hits to beat WHBB 11-4 on Saturday, May 11, 2002 at the Sportsplex.

Ross Faulkenberry had two hits, followed by Sean Baxley, Nick Stevenson, and T.J. Herrod with a hit each.

For WHBB, Bobby Thompson had two hits.

Turner Motors 13, Bush Hog 1

Turner Motors beat Bush Hog 13-1 behind the pitching of Blake Robinson on Saturday, May 11, 2002.

Robinson pitched four innings, giving up one hit and one run.
