Garlin P. Kenner

Garlin P. Kenner, 81, of Selma, died Monday, May 13, 2002 in Ocala, Fla.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Chappelle officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Hone directing.

Survivors include daughters, Pat (Bill) Sherrer of Dothan and Katie (Bob) Montgomery of Ocala, Fla.; brother, Marvin (Faye) Keener of Selma; sister, Ila Bell Franklin; grandchildren, Chris Sherrer, Amy (Greg) Sherrer Teston, Will Sherrer

all of Dothan and Stephen Montgomery of Ocala, Fla.; nieces, Vickie Franklin (Steve) Leonard of Tyler, Texas, Cindy Keener (Keith) Pickle of Lyons, Ga., and Janine Keener of Montgomery.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellouise Kenner, his parents, Abe and Ila Lee Keener, brothers, Sam Keener, Lavelle Keener, Bill Keener, Carl Keener and Eugene Keener and a nephew, John Franklin.

Active pallbearers are members of Central Baptist Church.

Family visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday at the church.

Mr. Keener was born in Autauga County. He retired from the Army and Air Force Exchange Service at Craig Air Force Base in Selma. He was a World Ware II veteran, serving in North Africa and Europe and was awarded a Purple Heart. Mr. Keener was a life long member of Central Baptist Church and served secretary of the Sunday School Department for many years.

Willie C. Jackson

Willie C. Jackson, 70, of Boligee, died Thursday, May 9, 2002 in Boligee.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at the Chapel of Larkin and Scott Funeral Home with the Rev. F.D. Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Freehope Cemetery in Boligee with Larkin and Scottt Funeral directing.

Lillian Weekley Brice Rankin

Lillian Weekley Brice Rankin, 95, of Selma, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at a local hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Dr. Stuart Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with the Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include daughters, Anne Brice (Tony) Conaway of Selma, Martha Brice (Alden) Ryon of Winter Haven, Fla., Ann Rankin Jacobs of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Linda Rankin (Tread) Coopwood of Birmingham; sisters, Corrie (Al) Valine of Mobile and Eulene Cargill of Atmore; brother, Norman (Myrtle) Weekley of Cossada; grandchildren, Pat Conaway (Ralph) Holley of Selma, James Douglas (Denise) Conaway of Marion Jct., Lisabeth Conaway (Charlie) Godfrey of Centreville, Va., Michael Douglas (Kay) Ryon of Naples, Fla., Wm. Stephen (Stephanie) Ryon of Sarasota, Fla., Randall Billings Ryon of Cross City, Fla., Richard Brice Ryon of West Palm Beach , Fla., John Alden (Jill) Ryon of Atlanta, Ga., Matthew Jacobs of Fountain Valley, Calif., Mark (DeWana) Coopwood of Baton Rouge, La., and Nancy (Donnie) Shempert of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, John Weekley and a sister Vert Boone.

Active pallbearers are the grandsons, Doug Conaway, Michael Ryon, Stephen Ryon, Richard Ryon, John Ryon and Mark Coopwood.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Presbyterian Children’s Home, P.O. Box 577, Talladega, AL 35160.

Mrs. Rankin was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1929. She was born Sept. 7, 1906 in Peridido. She was a graduate registered nurse at the Selma Baptist Hospital. She was married to the Douglass Brice for 24 years until his death in 1953. She later married Cecil Rankin and was married for 29 years before his death in 1986.

George L. Tannenbaum

George L. Tannenbaum, 94, of Montgomery, died Sunday, May 12, 2002 at his home.

Memorial services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the Chapel of First United Methodist Church, Cloverdale Park. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery in Selma with Leak-Memory Chapel directing.

Survivors include two daughters, Anna Hudson of Richmond, Va., and Elizabeth Tannenbaum – Fal of Brattleboro, Vt.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Winston Lamar Tannenbaum.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Montgomery Humane Society or the SouthCentral Alabama Girl Scout Council.

Mr. Tannenbaum was a Case Western University in Ohio. He worked for over 60 years as a chemical engineer and plant manager in the food fermentation industry. During World War II, he was a sergeant in the Army Engineers wt service in the Buima and China campaigns.

Earlene Rodgers

Earlene Rodgers, 79, of Selma, died Saturday, May 4, 2002 in Florence.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, May 11, at Green Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Earnest L. Colvin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lewis Brother Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Charlie Rodgers Jr. of Selma; one daughter, Mary Rodgers Andrews of Selma; one sister, Ruth Lee Rawls of Selma; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; two brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Active pallbearers are Deacons of Green Street Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers are nephews.

Mrs. Rodgers was a member of Green Street Baptist Church, and an active member of Circle #2. She retired from American Candy Company after 25 years of service.
