Well said Wedgie. I think that Chief Riley is establishing the protocols to keep this from happening again.

Actually guys if we are honest about it.. the blame lies with the jury because if he had jury trials they are the ones that didn't blame him for his crimes. They are the people that said he should not be convicted. He does have a bunch of priors but has he been convicted. Then did he receive a sentence worthy of his crimes. Apparently not cause he has been able to walk the streets and commit even more crimes. However bamafan I don't think that it is appropriate to put him in front of a firing squad. That would be against all kinds of laws and civil liberties.

It was business as usual at Wal-Mart on Tuesday. Shad35mascre why shame on Wal-Mart, What were they supposed to do??? They acknowledged that a rumor had been heard . They were in contact with the local police and took as many precations as possible. As far as I know nothing happened. Thank God. but there was no need for panic People called all day those customers were told that nothing was happening and that they were taking extra precations just to be safe. There was no hostage situation. There was no lockdown. There as no shooting. This is stupid and whoever started this should be punished when they are caught.

The Mayor said that the budget still needed $200,000 cut and that is the exact amount that is earmarked to the Community Development Department for tourism. Seems to me with cutting a large portion of the earmarked funds and cutting several of the other suggestions, like consolidating jobs and cutting other costs. Then maybe there would be no need to cut the Library or the public safety budget.

How much would be saved if the city returns the Good Samaritan Hospital to the State? And why wasn't that one of the first things considered before even suggesting pay cuts? We really can't afford to have the police and fire departments cut in hours or pay. Both are already severly underpaid as it is.

What happened to the mayor supporting the public safety.
The PD is already under paid and understaffed. Our police officers deserve better than this. It seems convenient to call a meeting for this morning to basically inform the officers that their pay would be discussed tonight and basically we just wanted to let you know that we are going to take 12.5 percent of your pay. Now you have until 3pm to come up with a better solution because this WILL be discussed tonight. Oh! by the way, firefighters you will be next on the agenda. At the next meeting we will discuss your pay decrease unless you can come up with a solution to the problem at hand. Now bear in mind if I don't like your proposal you will loose 12.5 percent of your pay that you have earned over the years of dedicated service to this community and you will never get it back.

reason31..... The police can't be every where all the time. More police presence would be great however they aren't going to be willing to work for nothing. If the mayor has his way we will be asking all the police officers to put their lives on the line everyday for almost nothing.

Isrowell, yes I live in Selma and don't be sorry. If you want to let your million dollar store and customers burn while you wait to see the smoke go right ahead. From what I am told the store manager is required by policy and common sense to evacuate until the police and fire dept have cleared the area. What if something had been wrong and he had not gotten the people out your comment would have been he shuld have taken precautions and evacuate the customers and employees.

Isrowell, should he have waited to see the flames coming from the top of the building and your body on fire before evacuating? You moron.
