My aunt was ill and at the end hospice came in. As soon as you hear hospice you know and you can change your thinking and accept what is happening. I think that hospice not only offered help but they also gave us a bridge. When hospice comes you know, then and there, that the time has come to make peace with the situation and your loved one. That bridge helped us deal with my aunt’s transition.

Healing may have been talked about in the article but I was discussing whether or not the history of African-American people was a valid forum as in should it be taught and why. We were not dicussing the merits of the story but if the story should be told and why. You mentioned white and black hate I did not. In case you have not noticed we seldom discuss what is really going on on this site we almost always get off point.

I think you are assuming to know me when you don't. I have no problem with battle of Selma, DAR, or anything that celebrates anyones history.
I also think you are just another person looking for an argument and you won't get that here either.
I learned a long time ago that evil has a regular face and it can be white or black, no one race has the trademark on evil, believe me I have met both black and white people cloaked in evil.
I support a child knowing where he or she came from, so that his or her roots will give them the wings they need to soar. That means knowing who they are and who they come from.

disgruntled, I never said I wanted anyone to be healed of anything, I am an historian, not a healer. I do, however, have a deep abiding love for my culture and my history. I also believe in what my mother told me as a child 'if you are going to tell a story, tell it right." There is no way slavery can be discussed in any forum without the mention of kidnapping, rape, whips, abuse and ill-feelings. Do I hold living whites responsible for what their ancestors did, no I do not, I wasn't brought up like that. Instead I believe that " Loyalty to our ancestors does not include loyalty to their mistakes." George Santayana.
My church and my God teaches me to love all people but I am sometimes an imperfect Christian.
Although my life both at work and at home is multicultural, I tend to embrace all things African-American.
However, If I sound a bit hostile, I don't apologize for it, because I am not, maybe it is just the way you perceive it to be, not as it actually is.

I personally don't mind "hearing" the truth.

Yall are really reaching into the garbage today with those little slingers about huts and showers. I guess when intellect fails you have to throw mud. They only thing about throwing mud is you always get a little on yourself.

"If the slaves were never here..." If in your whole life, you have never eaten lunch with, sat in class with, worked with or been friends with even one African-American that would make you feel otherwise, the problem is not with us it is with you.
You also do a disservice to any African-American that would call you a friend saying something like that.

Nor would you have the white house, built by slaves. Coca-cola, funded by profit from a slave plantation, or me.
