Gwen shouldn't have to address it. Mark should. The God I worship, encourages me to take care of my responsibilities, i.e. The Teppers building, before making more bills. Gwen, where you live can be judged by it's appearance, as well as it's mortgage, especially if it, the money, is being paid by a non-profit. The I.R.S. needs to check into the Duke home, its funding, and the F.F. Ever heard of ACORN, they are in trouble now for misappropriation of funds, and Congress cut them off.

Thanks Dennis. I do gamble at times, but very seldom. If I want to gamble, I can drive to Mississippi as an outing. I would also vote against gaming in Alabama if it were put on a ballot. I voted against the lottery, because the then Governor refused to explain how the tax money would be used. He kept saying "for education", but refused to say what %, and how. If it doesn't have an ironclad law passed as to how to spend any money, I don't want it. What I want from the government is total transparency, and accountability, then I may be willing to vote for some of their pet projects. That goes for the U.S. Government also. Please quit hiding pet projects in bills. The entire U.S. Constitution is very small, but this healthcare bill is 1200 pages.

Having survived 2 suicides in my lifetime, one a family member, and the other a very close friend, this family needs love and prayers. This man has a family, and WE don't need to second guess what happened. They are suffering right now, and will continue to suffer. It takes a long time after an incident like this to be able to call yourself a survivor.
WE never know what was going thru the person's head when they did this, but at that moment they didn't see a way out. PLEASE, just pray for this family, and offer them support in anyway possible. THEY are hurting.

I am glad that Rep. Davis voted against the healthcare plan. I also know it wasn't because that is how he really feels, it was for his own political ambition. He probably wrestled with this vote, but if you research, ALL of the men representing the state of Alabama voted against the plan. THAT is how Alabama feels. As for this district, I am not sure Davis voted to how they would have voted if given the chance. Thank you Artur Davis, for voting how I would have voted, you don't do that very often.

archangelsk, if you genuinely have an injury that prevents you from wearing a seatbelt, then you can get a written form from a Dr., and you will be exempted. But if you do, don't get upset when you are injured by one of those driver's in Selma, or elsewhere, who runs the redlight, speeds, or drives recklessly, has no insurance, and your injury could have been prevented because you refused, or couldn't wear a seatbelt.
I'm for safer highways, but I want as little gov. in my life as possible. Redlight camera's increase money for the community (city), charge the car, not the driver for running the light, and every-time a light is run, is not the driver's fault. Go down highland or Broad, be behind an eighteen wheeler who is going straight, you can not see the light until you are under it, and it is too late to stop. If you do slam on breaks, the person behind you will probably hit you from behind. Which is worse, holding someone up for 1-2 seconds, who is already stopped, or receiving a whiplash. I'll report, you decide.

Mr. Lewis, have you gone to the Board of Education?? Ask a lawyer, maybe he/she can interpret the law for you. I thought if you are a "parent", you should have access to your child's grades, unless you have in some way lost parental rights thru the divorce. Please, Mr. Lewis, follow this up further and report back, as to help other's in your shoes. Good Luck.

My pay is also frozen, but my insurance premiums increased in Sept., my co-pay will increase in Jan., and my premiums will also increase again in Jan. Will not get any help to fill a vacant position, so I'm having to absorb my co-workers job, putting more work on me in the same length of time. I do all I can, and go back the next day. It has caused my B.P. to increase, so now I am on 3 B.P. meds, having to pay for them plus keep going to the Dr., costing me more co-pays. I absorb all of this, am proud I still have a job, and Ins. We can carry city, county, state, employees just so far. They must suck in their belts also. I am proud that the city employees received their 12.5% back, so they are used to doing with less, so why not pay for the increase in their premiums. As for a raise, please thank God you have a job, this economy is ruff. There are plenty out there who would gladly pay the increase in the ins. just to be working.

Sen. Reid's bill incldes raising taxes during a recession. People need to wake up, you can't just keep taxing, and spending our children and grand-children into the poor house. NOONE is expected to get "sick and die" before their time. HERE, we have the Doc in the bus, there is a free clinic on Highway 80 in White Hall, and Dr.'s are not heartless, they will allow you to pay what you can, if you have a "real" illness. They don't give their services for free, but neither does this healthcare plan.
Dr.'s are tired of seeing healthy, drug seekers, who do not pay, as are E.R.'s. There is help for those trully in need. Most of the people without insurance, have none because they choose not to have it. Very few of the ppeople without insurance, either don't qualify for Medicaid, or trully can't buy insurance. If you can afford a cell phone, cable, and other luxuries, you can afford health ins., at least for hospitalization. Many young people don't want to spend the money, because they are healthy, many others take their "chances". I wish there was a REAL number out there of who could be insured if they really saw it as a priority.
In my 20's, several times I did not carry health ins., because I didn't think I needed it. It turned out that I didn't need it. I was lucky. Why do I want to pay taxes on something that isn't taking effect for 3-4 years?? Why do I want to pay for my health ins., and yours too?? (I forgot, I already do, with Medicare taxes, and Medicaid) I don't mind helping the sick, the elderly, etc., but I do mind helping those who are not willing to help themselves. One last question, where are the Dr.'s, and nurses to treat all of these people who will all of a sudden start gooing to a Dr. on a regular basis???
On Davis should tell truth about why he voted no
