Since Chesnut did so much for this town, can't his legacy just honor his memory without naming buildings and roads. Since he did so much for all of us then that should just be enough. I don't really see the point in all of this. There are MUCH BIGGER issues to be concerned about in Selma. I just recently moved from Selma and you really don't see how bad it is until you leave and come back. The man just died. Can't we give the dirt time to settle before we start changing road names? This is so ignorant. It is not a black or white thing. If this had been a white man would Selma have been so quick to want to rename something? I think not. Racism goes both ways and if you don't think it does, you need a serious reality check.

The Dallas County School Board and the Selma City School Board are TWO different things.

There is no way the government should be allowed to regulate what people eat. That goes against all the fundamentals of privacy. Americans are allowed to have privacy within their person and home. If you regulate what people eat, then that will just open the door to regulate other personal choices. I agree that being obese is unhealthy, but that is the beauty of America, people have a choice!

Well...as a journalism student at UA and from Selma, you always have to write what your editor tells you to. That is part of the job. That happens in every newsroom. Believe it or not, you don't always pick what you want. Reporters are sometimes on an assigned beat and that is what they write about. Even if you have an assigned story, which is a lot, you can still add your own flair to the story!
