Hats should really go off to you Leesha! This is definitely a first that we have a staff at the STJ that it seems has the public interest first, bias or unbias, and we appreciate the future progress I am sure will be made. You see, when a city have a responsible and fair newspaper, it even put the politicians on notice to do a good and transparent job! We appreciate you all covering more of the commissions meeting, because they start at 4pm and most people are still at work, and the few I ve been privied to, all is discussed, what road got paved. I think if the city and county work together to ensure each is progressing and prospering, the city will be that much more prosperous

The selma times journal has improved immensely over the years, just wished they would keep their site updated daily. The only thing the stj does not report with consistency is the county commission business. We would like to be kept more abreast on that as well.

One of the main difference between city and county govt., is the county are all in cahoots. That is why it was imperative for Ballard and crew to get rid of the last commissioner, I think his name was Hunter, because Hunter did not want to be apart of the "pat-me on my back system for keeping your mouth closed"...One of the advantages the county has, have you ever wonder why they have the meetings set a 4pm? They know most people are still working at this time and Ballard has mastered keeping people ignorant...If you have a brain, they don't want you to be apart. So I concur, an audit is needed periodically to put the elected officials on notice!

Deepest regards go out to both families as this is tragic. Nothing is worth taking someone life. You know America have to go back to acknowledging GOD, as we as a country became to politically correct and wanted to take GOD out of everything to please the masses. More than ever, we need GOD's presence. Again, may GOD strengthen the family during these tragic times.

I applaud commissioner towns and williams for finally voting on their own . This was very encouraging even though the flunkie nichols now is in office. And will be voting the way ballard want him to. Do you really think nichols had time to see what his constituents wanted? He only has been in office for a week.

Liberty did you vote for Ralph Nader? Did you vote? If you didn't you should not even be commenting on the election anymore.

Bowdick I concur, but this id the divide and conquer and keep the people ignorant, this is why Hunter was a threat to exposing what is really going on. The Commission is really controlled by a local businessman who knows he has all the commissioners in his pocket including the Probate. I am sure this is why they had to position for a flunkie and yes man to come in and get Hunter out the way.... I think we should rally Hunter to run for Probate soon once Ballard and flunkies are exposed!

You know this forum is hopeful by the mere fact, this is immense progress to have blacks and whites communication with each other by being themselves, I applaud that fact. However, it is sad that the communication is only brought on by negativity. Here today, it was acknowledged that Selma's Jubilee is a bright spots, and verify the number of comments on that, which should have been plentiful that our town is being in the light rather than the dark. We have to make a conscious effort to become one. UNITY my people..if only we would just join together and come together and promote goodwill, what can Selma become!
