Dusty Brown,
A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art.. They had everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael.
When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son.
About a month later there was a knock at the door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hand.
He said, 'Sir, you don't know me, but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life. The father opened the package. It was a portrait of his son. He stared in awe at the way the soldier had captured the personality of his son in the painting. He thanked the young man and offered to pay him for the picture. 'Oh, no sir, I could never repay what your son did for me. It's a gift.'
The father hung the portrait over his mantle.
The man died a few months later. There was to be a great auction of his paintings. Many influential people gathered.
On the platform sat the painting of the son. The auctioneer pounded his gavel. 'We will start the bidding with this picture of the son. Who will bid for this picture?'
There was silence.
Then a voice in the back of the room shouted, 'We want to see the famous paintings. Skip this one.
But the auctioneer persisted. 'Will somebody bid for this painting? Who will start the bidding? $100, $200?'
Another voice angrily. 'We didn't come to see this painting. We came to see the Van Gogh's, the Rembrandts.
But still the auctioneer continued. 'The son! The son! Who'll take the son?'
Finally, a voice came from the very back of the room.. It was the longtime gardener of the man and his son. 'I'll give $10 for the painting..' Being a poor man, it was all he could afford.
'We have $10, who will bid $20?'
The crowd was becoming angry. They didn't want the picture of the son..
They wanted the more worthy investments for their collections.
The auctioneer pounded the gavel. 'Going once, twice, SOLD for $10!'
The auctioneer laid down his gavel. 'I'm sorry, the auction is over.'
'What about the paintings?'
'I am sorry.. When I was called to conduct this auction, I was told of a secret stipulation in the will. I was not allowed to reveal that stipulation until this time. Only the painting of the son would be auctioned. Whoever bought that painting would inherit the entire estate, including the paintings.
The man who took the son gets everything!'
God gave His son 2,000 years ago to die on the cross.
You see, whoever takes the Son gets everything.
FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, WHO SO EVER BELIEVETH, SHALL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE....
With what did you and Mark Duke leave?
God help ya'll to see The Truth and ya'll will be set free!!
Blessings in a true Christian life!!

ChangeSelma, are you comparing the heathenistic actions of the mardi gras participants with the bridge crossing jubilee participants?
acourtland, if you say the litter and poured grease issues are "petty", I hate to see your house!
Bg, you're on the right trail, but, both issues are big!!
All we have belongs to GOD!! Everytime you litter or abuse property, you're doing it to GOD's house!!
But, thenagain, maybe all aren't Godly, they just abuse and shout "Glory" the loudest while in church.

Prayer is the key, but, it takes participation to pray for the city and to become the progresssive minded doers.
The next Prayer Vigil is the second Monday of April at 5:30pm in the Carl Morgan Convention Center, downtown Selma.
Be there or be L7!!

Lightning
An apology to me was neither expected nor warranted. Just a clarification on the word "hog". Anyhow, since you offered an apology...accepted!
The "higher up world" people would be the Attorney General to look into the dealings of ff/md both here and in other cities. The appropriate thing to be done would be for local attorneys who back md to assist him in leaving town...either with his tail between his legs or tarred and feathered and to distance themselves from him and his shenanigans.

tenactin..lower case again...
Jesus would not have made the comments mark duke made about the unfortunate Bush Hog employees. Many of whom have worked hard over the years to make Bush Hog a viable company in a struggling market, and, having nothing to do with their class or lack of, were unfortunately added to the many thousands of workers displaced by the world's economy.
As for your stand for mark duke and ff, the Devil roams around like a hungry lion seeing who he can devour...from your self proclaimed Biblical head knowledge, sounds like he's down to your last foot.
Hmmmmmm...

To Brother or Sister "Lightning", being a member of the "biker world", please know that there is a biker organization known as "HOG"...The letters stand for: Harley Owners Group. Please make clear to which "Hog" you are referring.
To all who have a distain for mark duke and his "type"...lower case for the obvious reason..citizen intervention to more than the local citizens should provoke investigations from people in more influential positions..Attorney General.
"Birds of a feather flock together" applies not only to the culprit and his brainwashed followers in these discussions, but, to those who have been insulted by "his' uncouth remarks.

Wisdom...not all people living in Israel are Jews...some Jews have seen the truth and accept Jesus as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and still live in Israel. Besides, they are "your neighbor", of whom you are to love as you love yourself!!
