JL Chestnut Boulevard. Very good, Selma. You have honored a man who struggled with, for and among the people, and who championed causes that affected Americans near and far.

You have honored a man who, as an attorney in a deprived area of our nation, has gone above and beyond into the courtroom with his knowledge and savvy to represent citizens, both Black and yes, White. You have honored a man who had an "opinion" and was confident in himself enough to express it to you and anybody else who would listen. You have honored a man who was a friend to Black and yes, White folks. To satisfy 100% of the people you serve 100% of the time just wouldn't make common sense in politics and would make you God almost. And we are talking politics, right?

God Bless you, Selma, as in the midst of much confusion on every end, you have blessed someone else to whom this was important.

Now watch God send "men" to give to you in great measure, shaken down and running over.

Has the trial happened already?

In America, people are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. It's what we are built upon, and is what makes us a democracy. I will not tell you what I have heard because it would be gossip, innuendo and propaganda. On top of that, it is an election season. I am so glad that candidate does not dignify this fiasco by responding to it.

What I will do is watch and listen because it is better to think too much than talk too much. Fools open their mouths without first having a thought in their brains, in my opinion. Observe. Gather the facts. Read something beyond the daily newspaper. God would not have us to be ignorant.

We have a system for a reason. If we did not, some of us might be vigilantes. Let us not judge unwisely, lest someday we be judged by the same measure that we dished out.

My apologies. In my previous comment, I inadvertently typed in that the deadline to register to vote was August 25. My intention was to type in the actual date of August 15, the deadline to register to vote if a person desired to vote in the August 26 municipal elections.

To find out if a college student may register and vote in the city in which they attending school, simply phone the Secretary of State's office at 334-242-7720. The SOS can explain this in detail to you, including whether a college student has to inform their parents of a change of address.

To find out whether the students at Concordia College registered to vote in Selma by the August 25 deadline, phone the Dallas County Board of Registrars and ask for the registrar of your choice at 334-874-2534. The DCBR can also explain to you whether or not these students had to be residents for a certain period or not.

To find out if ANY of this is legal, simply phone your attorney for consultation.

I'm really not sure why no one has provided nor tried these resources yet and I hope that the students who have chosen our great city to attend school and possibly remain here after graduating, have not been discouraged by our actions and lack of knowledge.

It's really common sense if you think about it...
