Rose and Hank Sanders are responsible for the "white flight" the city schools experienced in the early 90's. Their then son-in-law Norwood Rousell was the superintendent of the city schools. His incompetence caused the school board to consider firing him. Rose claimed that "tracking" (placing students into levels based on ability) was the reason for the protests but the whole town knew it was about Rousell. A gang of adults and students with sticks and clubs ran down the halls at Westside calling on the students to come out of class. A gang of protesters walking from Westside to Selma High attacked and shot a white painter in the leg as he worked on a house on Second Ave. A sit-in, staged by Rose, in the cafeteria at Selma HIgh shut the school down for several days. I watched Hank bringing protesters in his car and letting them out near Selma High at the corner of Memorial and Franklin. Rose and her gang stormed city hall and the mayors office knocking the city attorney over a desk and forcing the mayor to flee for his own safety. They then refused to leave cityhall. With the National Guard patroling the halls of Selma High and Westide and a National Guard helicopter constantly flying over the city order was restored to the schools. When the schools were opened back up most white parents and many black parents chose not to send their children back and I don't blame them. Many of them moved into the county so the kids could attend the county schools.
I refer to this as "The resegregation of the public schools by Rose and Hank"
It was all about power and control. The city has never recovered. For Lil Johnny and the rest of the Perkinites the school board elections are all about power and control. They want it.

Don't forget the midterm elections for congress! If you know someone in California (Pelosi) and Nevada (Reid) encourage them to vote the lapdogs out! If control of congress can be taken away from the obamanites perhaps there'll be something left to take back in 2013........
On Do you plan on reading Sarah Palin’s memoir, which is being released Tuesday?

More ignorance from our cheese stealin', girlfriend beatin', bitter, one term excouncilman!
If Johnny "shoot'im in the head" Leashore and little Albert are representative of the level of intellect found on Hate Radio 105.3 the FCC should shut them down.
BTW: If it can be proven that a white person was discriminated against by a black person because that person was influenced by something Lil' Cheese or Lil' Albert says on the air then they and 105.3 can now be charged with a hate crime under the new hate crime laws recently enacted by the Obama administration.

These days it seems weather forecasters predict the possibility of severe weather almost every time a front comes through. I understand the need to inform but they have become like the boy who cried wolf..... I believe people tend to ignore them.
On How often do you prepare before predicted severe weather strikes?

We've all heard that 1 out of 177 republicans voted in favor of the house bill. So what? What the media hasn't overwhelmed us with, and what is a much bigger story, is the fact that 39 (15%) of 258 house democrats DID NOT vote for the bill. That is telling.
We must not allow this power grab to succeed!
On Do you support the government creating a public option for healthcare?

Mrs.Fitts, unlike her opponent, is not tied to any political organizations and is therefore free to make her own decisions. Also, she has a long record of quietly doing good works in the community and giving of herself.
Selma would do well to elect her.

Absolutely! & I don't leave home without it.
That is a right written into and guaranteed by that often ignored document... the U.S. Constitution!

Eye: Rose and Hank do not live in Selma. (even though Rose has used the addresses of houses they own on Union and Water to vote illegally in city elections) They live on Imani Way which is in the county off of Hwy 14 east. That area is zoned for the county school system.
On Say that again?
