This is truly an asinine thing to do. In today’s economy why put more hardship on the town just because you want to celebrate your voting choice. You should be celebrating the day by working hard, just as Obama did, to get where he is. I bet you he did not lay idly by on State Holidays when he wanted something. No he probably worked for it. If you have a job, a State Job no less, with the benefits that come with one, celebrate it by doing your job. By doing it good. Make it official, celebrate the day. But work it. Then have a parade in his honor. Have activities planned at local schools, such as politics day where they learn more about government than they normally do. Have a 100 facts about Obama’s life quiz. Who ever gets the best score gets a free day of homework. For State employees come up with something similar where they still get to celebrate, but they do so by actually working the day. Obama wants to make the economy stronger, and by voting for him you agree with his ideals. Then do so and work harder to make your economy stronger, more durable. Not weaker and lazier.

There is more so called "reverse racism" in Selma Alabama than anywhere else I have ever been. I have lived in several racially motivated tense towns, such as Macon Ga and Atlanta Ga. Both have extensive history with the Civil Rights movement, as does Selma. But Selma seems to be stuck in a rut.
There comes a point in time when you have to let the past go and move on with the future.
I had a horrible childhood. My mother had a bad childhood, my ancesters were so called "white slaves" (and check your history if you dont belive that poor white faimlys were sold into slavery as well)
But you have to let it go, learn from it, grow from it. I have meet Johnny Leshore many times, as I have J.L Chestnut when he was alive. And while neither regarded white people very well, they were always nice to me. I dont have a probelm with them persay, but the attitute that people like him, and Rose Sanders (I dont care what she calls herself) exude, is a travisty to the American culutre.
People need to remember the American Indians. We raped their women and children, stole their land, and killed most of their people. The reason for this Greed. The reason for all injustice, GREED.
The reason for his horrible comment, he has forgotten who he is and got lost up in all the muck of Selma Politics.
Personally I commend anyone and everyone who can actually stand to be a public official in this Morally defunt town
On Say that again?
