Morgan beats Kingwood 3-2 in volleyball match

SELMA — The No. 3 Morgan Academy volleyball team battled to a 3-2 win over No. 4 Kingwood Thursday.

Kingwood jumped out front for the first set 25-12.

In the second set Kingwood led 17-13. Morgan got on a 10-point run behind senior Anne Woodruff’s serve to make the score 24-19 and won 25-21.

In the third set Morgan won handily, 25-14. Kingwood won the fourth set 25-23.

Morgan jumped ahead in the fifth set 7-4, but Kingwood tied the score at 13. Morgan, however, won 15-13 to claim the match.

Morgan Coach Jennifer Moore said,” I am very proud of the way this team has played this week. Things are really starting to come together on the court.”
