Downtown Selma Assoc. wins award

Published Tuesday, October 27, 2009

MONTGOMERY — The Alabama Historical Commission has awarded its Distinguished Service Award to Downtown Selma Association, Main Street organization.

The award recognizes individuals and groups whose contributions demonstrate excellence in historical preservation.

Shebra Kidd, the program director, and the organization’s president , Scott Patterson, were in Montgomery last week to receive the award.

“I think it’s awesome,” Kidd said. “I’m proud we’ve still got the Main Street Program in Selma.”

As director of the program Kidd works with downtown merchants and propertyowners to keep their properties vibrant and maintain the historical integrity of the buildings as they are renovated or changed.
