Dallas deputies recover stolen dozer

Published Wednesday, October 21, 2009

SELMA — Deputies arrested a Selma man and charged him with the theft of a dozer Tuesday.

Officers arrested Freddy Brady, 52, and charged him with theft of property, first-degree.

Dallas County Sheriff’s investigator Sgt. John Hatfield said National Salvage near Burnsville reported the theft of a 1995 Caterpillar dozer. Another crew located the machine in a pond south of the business’s property.

Hatfield said the suspect asked them to help him pull the dozer out of the pond.

After an investigation into the theft, depuites picked up Brady.

“Several statements were made that he requested people to help him pull the dozer up,” Hatfield said.

“He didn’t want National Salvage to know it was missing. His intent was to return the dozer after he cleared a field,” the law officer said.

Deputies arrested Brady and placed him in the county jail under a $30,000 bond. As of press time he had not made bond.

The charge is a class-b felony and if convicted he could face 10 to 20 years in prison and have to pay a fine up to $30,000.

Sounds like something out of the Dukes of Hazard. "Just a good ole boy, never doing no harm". They should just turn him over to his brothers and let them take care of him. popdukes12

To quote the great (to some) statesman Robert "Sheets" Byrd:

"BARBARIC!"

What bulldozer? Oh that thing, that's just a new feeder for the pond. They just make them look like bulldozers because the fish like it. (Snicker)

Between 10:00 last night and 6:30 this morning, there was 40 additional posts to the "upgrade to capital murder" article. This article set a new record for having the most number of comments to an article in the 160 year history of the STJ. I can't understand why the submission of comments was DISABLED. Had I not had to sleep eight hours so I could work today, I would have enjoyed reading what the late shift posters had to say. Katie, this was the first article in six months that garnered at least 100 comments and should not (in my opinion) have been disabled. the city marina was not even mentioned, so how bad could the last 40 comments have been. popdukes12

Yeah, I would have liked to read the additional 40 post of excuses to why a majority of Selmians act like uncivilized buffoons. I get amused to how none of these people are responsible for their own actions. I've never seen a single society of peope that are more uncivilized, excuse based and implosive.

The amount of post on that article was amazing. It shows how we need to come together as a community. It is a shame that the STJ disabled the post. The DA could get some great leads. That should go down in the STJ hall of Fame/shame. 136 post recordbreaking

eyeonyou: Somalia may still be a little more uncivilized. but who knows. Maybe the GWC klan and St. Phillips St. boys could get themselves some little white toyota pickups and start piling in and riding around like they do in Mogo Issuu. popdukes12

As long as the Toyota has big tires and rims....Oh Yea....and a cell phone in it too....
I've never seen so many folks ride around with a cell phone glued to the side of their head as I do here. Between the cell phone payment and the tire and rim payment I don't see how anyone has any money.....Oh....I forgot...they were probably stolen!! Go figure..my bad!

The 50 cal. mounted on top of the cab may interfer with the cell phone reception. popdukes12

Local school system? meaning the black public schools

This is "Sudan" here. Just pick up a paper and read the police reports day in and day out. Rapes, robberies, fighting, stealing, shootings, murders. What's the difference? I'm sure they use the same excuses over there as they do here too.

WELLSTJ...
You said it not me....That jibber-jabber you write makes it look like you are of the less educated and don't care what you post on here. As far as the "black public schools" no...I think they are the ones that Rose tried to mess up years ago...

Looks like somebodies house was shot up again around 2 this morning over on St. Phillips. Sounds like a lot more people need to be arrested.

Posted by eyeonyou (anonymous) on October 23, 2009 at 1:46 p.m. (Suggest removal)

It sounds to me like the FBI, ABI and any other outside agency needs to come in here and clean out these thug infested neighbohoods. People can't be held hostage to thugs for too much longer around here.
