Liquor tax moratorium continues

Published Wednesday, October 14, 2009

SELMA — The city council here continued a liquor tax moratorium until it can figure out what to do.

Some council members want to do away with the 4 percent tax completely. Others want the tax extended to private clubs, such as the Moose Club, Elk Club and Selma Country Club.

Several restaurant owners have asked the council to eradicate the tax, saying it’s double taxation for them.
