Warriors host VBS Thursday

SELMA — Central Christian Academy returns home Thursday night after a bye week to take on a tough Victory Baptist School team from Millbrook.
CCA coach Darrell Walker said the key for the Warriors will be using their heads and their hands.
“Victory has a strong running game,” Walker said. “So we’ll have to be smart on defense and wrap their running backs up good to make the tackles. There can be no arm tackles.”
Both teams come into the game after bye weeks, and Victory has the edge in victories. The Eagles from Millbrook have a season record of 4-2, while the first-year CCA Warriors are 1-5.
Walker said the team has been working hard during the extra week.
“We’ve been concentrating on the offensive line and defensive line,” he said.
“The offensive line is going to have to give our quarterback some protection. And the defensive line is going to have to put pressure on their quarterback.”
Walker said the Eagles will go into Thursday’s 7 p.m. game at Memorial Stadium without one player. Senior cornerback Tyrone Hatcher is injured.
