Southside falls at Wilcox Central

Published Thursday, March 5, 2009

Southside fell at Wilcox Central 2-1 on Friday in a game called on account of darkness.

“We just didn’t play well, didn’t have any enthusiasm,” said Southside coach LaMorris Jones. “We weren’t aggressive tonight.”

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning on Wilbert McConico’s solo home run. But, the Jaguars scored two runs in the bottom of the inning on Southside errors before the game was called.

Michael Perryman recorded 11 strikeouts in five innings. He was 1-for-3 at the plate with two stolen bases. Willie Smiley was 1-for-3 with a double.
