Police capture 4 of Selma’s most wanted
Published Monday, June 29, 2009
Less than a week after 10 mug shots appeared in The Selma Times-Journal, four people wanted for crimes have been arrested.
Officers apprehended Katina Frison and Sadonna Watters, Tanya Lewis; and Paul Rivers turned themselves in.
“We appreciate the effort between the police department, the press and the community,” Lt. David Evans said. “This community effort is what will make a difference in the city.”
Officers had outstanding felony warrants on all the suspects.
Watters and Lewis were charged with theft of property first-degree, but the charges are not in connection with each other. Both face a class-b felony, which if convicted is punishable by imprisonment from two to 20 years and to pay a fine up to $30,000. Both suspects saw their pictures and turned themselves into authorities. Officers placed Watters into the Dallas County Jail under a $5,000 bond. She made bond and was released.
Rivers was at work when he first realized he was wanted.
“Paul Rivers was at his place of employment,” Sgt. Doug Stewart said. “His co-workers began to point at him and said I saw you in the paper. He turned himself in to officers after that.”
Police received DNA from a semen sample in an attempted rape recently and the results matched Rivers, according to authorities. Rivers is charged with attempted rape in the first-degree. The offense is considered a class-b felony under the Code of Alabama. Officers placed him in the jail under a $5,000 bond. He made bond and was released.
A call came into authorities alerting police to Frison’s location. She was arrested at the place the informant told police.
Frison was charged with theft of property second-degree. The crime is a class-c felony. If she is convicted, then Frison could face jail time between one year and a day to 10 years in prison and pay a fine up to $15,000.
Frison also was charged with negotiating with a nonnegotiable instrument. She was placed in the jail under bonds totaling $15,500. She made bond and was released.
“Four arrests have been made, but that is not all we have received,” Evans said. “We have gotten a lot of information on the others and there will be arrests following.”
Authorities are still looking for six more suspects with felony warrants — Cedric Eaton, wanted for two counts of robbery in the first degree; Frank “Happy” Carter, wanted for first-degree kidnapping; Leonard Crocker, wanted for theft of property in the second-degree and theft of property by deception; Frank Deville, wanted for sexual abuse first-degree; Steven Romage, wanted for theft of property second-degree and Marcus Durry, wanted for theft of property second-degree.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of any of these individuals, then authorities ask you to contact them.
You can call the police department at 874-6611 or the Secret Witness Line at 874-2190 or Crime Stoppers at 877-3530. Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

I hope the paper does this every single week. How about a section in every Sunday edition of the SPD's most wanted. Provide a confidential number where a name is not required and I know the good people of Selma will step up and get these criminals off the streets!
