Selma Dixie Majors win first in series

Published Friday, June 26, 2009

Britian Murphy's one-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Jacolby Adams from third base to give the Selma Dixie Majors All-Stars a 4-3 victory over Holtvile on Friday night at Bloch Park.

The best-of-three series resumes tonight at 7 p.m. If Selma beats Holtville, they will represent District 4 in the playoffs.

Mark Englett led off the bottom of the seventh inning for Selma with a walk, and Adams replaced him on the basepaths. After stealing second base, Adams advanced to third base on a groundout. Then Murphy hits his game-winning single.

Thomas Austin went the first six innings for Selma, and he was lifted because of the pitch count.
