What is this?
Selma police request assistance from citizens
Published Thursday, June 25, 2009
After a crime is committed and detectives do plenty of legwork and investigation, then comes the next step of finding the suspect. It is not always as easy as going to the subject’s last known address. Some subjects have fled the area while others have just moved to another place in the city.
Every now and then officers will put out a list or even just a person’s name and picture who have an active warrant.
Recently the Selma Police Department Detective Division released a list of 10 people who are wanted for felony crimes.
“We need the public’s help in locating these suspects,” Lt. Davis Evans said. “In order to make an impact on the crime rate in Selma, the police and public need to work together. This is one situation where the public can assist in capturing the 10 suspects.”
Cedric Eaton, 22, Selma
Eaton allegedly placed a gun to the head of a 25 year-old victim on Nov. 11, 2008.
“Mr. Eaton demanded money from the victim,” Police Sgt. Doug Stewart said. The robbery occurred in the 1700 block of Alabama Avenue and police issued a first-degree robbery warrant for Eaton’s arrest. There is also another warrant for robbery in the first degree issued for Eaton.
Frank “Happy” Carter, 47, Tyler
Selma Police have a warrant for Carter regarding a first-degree kidnapping that occurred on April 18, 2007.
Carter allegedly forced the female victim at knifepoint and placed her in her car. Before he left, he threw her to the ground and choked her until she lost consciousness authorities said.
Paul Rivers, Selma
Police received DNA from a semen sample in a sexual abuse case recently and the results matched Rivers, according to authorities. Rivers is wanted for sexual abuse in the first-degree.
Leonard Crocker, 44, Selma
Police obtained a warrant for Leonard Nelson Crocker for theft of property in the second degree. Deputies are also looking for Crocker for theft of property by deception. The Code of Alabama defines this offense as someone who “nowingly obtains by deception control over the property of another, with intent to deprive the owner of his or her property.”
Frank Deville, 45, Selma
Officers are looking for Deville to serve a sexual abuse in the first degree warrant. The Code of Alabama defines the crime as a person who “subjects another person to sexual contact by forcible compulsion” or “subjects another person to sexual contact who is incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless or mentally incapacitated.”
Sadonna Watters, 28, and Tanya Lewis, 29
Watters and Lewis are sought on a charge of theft of property first-degree, but the charges are not in connection with each other. Both face a class-b felony, which if convicted is punishable by imprisonment from two to 20 years and to pay a fine up to $30,000.
Steven Romage, 31; Marcus Durry and Katina Frison, 25
The last three suspects are all wanted for theft of property second-degree warrants. The charges are not connected. The crime is a class-c felony. If any one of the suspects is convicted, then they could face jail time between one year and a day to 10 years in prison and pay a fine up to $15,000.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of any of these individuals, then authorities ask you to contact them.
You can call the police department at 874-6611 or the Secret Witness Line at 874-2190 or Crime Stoppers at 877-3530. Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Okay, I promises I will have more compassion, and be more pleasant, gentle to street thugs and the crimes they comment on our (their) streets.
For instant, the nice people in this story that law enforcement are looking for, is misunderstood. No way, nice looking people like them could do anything wrong

This is good. STJ needs to post new faces every day. This is a great idea. Hopefully I will be able to put these criminals away.

Good job STJ!! Keep posting these pitures up. The more exposure, the better chance to catch them.

People, for the sake of a better Selma, call in. This rediculous notion of "stop snitching" that people have picked up from rap music and other forms of "gangster" culture is very damaging to the community. You do not have to give your name if you don't want to. We need these robbers, rapists and thieves off our streets.

I like this, if some of them see their name and face in the paper, they may even turn their self in. They should do this every month. I'm sure they will get most of them seeing how Selma's so small.
I also agree with sxyballa about the missing cases. I remember that Rose guy being in the paper only 2 times and I never heard anymore of it. I'm sure some1 knows where he is, and the stories sounded kind of confusing.

STJ deems death of Michael Jackson ( greatest entertainer in the world) unnewsworthy with lack of story.

Do you think it possible that the SPD asked the STJ for their help in this realizing the power of the press? That is the way it seems from the quotes.
Anyways...good job. I hear there have already been benefits from this in the form of arrests.
