Hazardous weather possible

Published Monday, June 15, 2009

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a hazardous weather outlook for this area, saying strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening.

The thunderstorms are expected primarily for areas along and north of a line from Aliceville to Roanoke, which is north of Selma. The main hazard for today, Monday, is damaging straight-line winds.

The weather service reported several clusters of thunderstorms have and will continue to form over the Southern Plans and into the mid-Mississippi Valley Monday. Forecasters will watch these clusters in relationship to development of severe weather over Central Alabama.
