The Hunt makes its return
Published Monday, June 1, 2009
The Hunt is on, beginning Wednesday. It’s the annual treasure hunt sponsored by The Selma Times-Journal.
Here’s how it works: Our staff goes out somewhere in Dallas County with a treasure chest and hides it in a public place. Inside that treasure chest is a certificate for $1,000.
Every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, The Selma Times-Journal will publish a clue about the treasure chest’s location. You’ll see the clue inside the newspaper. Clues can also be found at participating businesses, a list which can be found along with clues in the Wednesday, Friday and Sunday editions of The Selma Times-Journal.
Then, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Dixie 100 will read clues over the air some time during the broadcast day.
“We’ll publish clues until we have a winner,” said Erica Slone, advertising director for The Selma Times-Journal. “All the person has to do is bring the certificate in the box to the newspaper and claim the prize to win.”
So get ready. The Hunt is on.

"I hope it's in a safe place, where no one will get robed or killed."
Robed - To put on robes or a robe...
Just a some good natured fun at the typo and a little dig on people seemingly scared of their own shadow

Let's all get out there and have some fun looking for the treasure chest. I'll be looking and having a blast! Thanks STJ for making it happen.
Hey Bg, you're so funny. I hope you're not a teacher because your students wouldn't "COTTON" to your "just a some good natured" (ah what?).,,spelling habits.
I hope you understand it's all in good fun. Have a great day! :)

I agree, me and my best friend played the game last time. And I do not remember anyone getting robbed or killed. It was a lot of fun, and even though we did not win, we really enjoyed ourselves.

I think we should put a new spin on this "Hunt". We should have the citizens look for the missing (stolen) money from the Police Department. If someone finds it, they keep it. This should be the next "hunt".

As a reply to Whodat.....Hummmm...a safe place in Selma???? Do those words belong in the same sentence???? An oxymoron if you will. If they are putting this in a safe spot my bet is this contest will be over in a few hours.
ROFLMAO!!!!!

Put it in the police department...no. They steal money and cars. Put it at city hall.....no. The leftover admin knows how to hide and move around money. Put it on Tremont Street...no. Certain people over there will find it, then lie about having it, spend it, then ask if they can borrow it. Mmmmm...put it over at a location on Jeff Davis...no. A certain group over there will say they were discriminated against and couldn't find it because they are oppressed and the white man took it from them. Soooo....I guess we'll just have to keep looking.

Eyeonyou.....love the way you think
We need more eyeslikeyou around town
If I win it I am going to donate the money to one of the cults
or have a monument made of myself celebrating my victory
in "the Hunt" wearing my white "cotten" robe.
Nah,,,,, I'll probably buy some of that new expensive high alcohol content beer which won't ever come to the Sel. Can you believe the alcoholics & teenagers are gonna corner the market on that? Get real....these guys want a cheap buzz!
ROFLMAO

Hahahaha.. Thanks. You have to laugh at it because not only is it ridiculous, but it's so true. That's HOW IT IS around here. This town has to be one of the most manipulated, self agenda, lost cause, race baiting, excuse making, shoot self in the foot, cut nose off to spite face, can't see the forest for the trees, victim of own circumstance, incomptent, uneducated, brainwashed, half truthed town I've ever seen. You could write BOOKS and more books about this place.

Maybe more people need to join in the hunt, so maybe they can use their brain for something good, other than trying to think about how they (black or white) can sit on their butt all day and do nothing or how they(black or white) can rob, steal or KILL someone.

STJ
It says on here a clue will be published each day, the paper stated Wed., Fri., and Sunday. Which is it?
Posted by Publisher (anonymous) on June 4, 2009 at 12:07 p.m. (Suggest removal)
A clue will be published in the newspaper every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Clues can also be found at particpating businesses the day they are released. A list of participating businesses can be found in the newspaper on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
The story has been changed to reflect such. Thanks for helping us edit!
Happy hunting!
