Published Tuesday, July 7, 2009
MARION — One of three finalists will become the next president of Marion Military Institute.
Last week, Alabama Community College System Interim Chancellor Joan Davis interviewed the top three candidates for the position. She is expected to present her formal recommendation to the Alabama Board of Education at its next board meeting on July 14.
The three finalists for president are Col. David J. Mollahan, USMC, retired, director, Division of Humanities and Social Sciences at the U.S. Naval Academy; Capt. John B. Read, USN, retired, former president of Wentworth Military Academy and Col. Randall Wooten, USAF, retired, president of Texas State Technical College-Marshall.
"If the board approves her recommendation, we will have an announcement on the permanent hire," said Marietta Holmes, public information coordinator and alumni relations assistant for MMI.
In the meantime, Susan Stevenson, vice president and dean for academic at MMI is serving as interim president, Holmes said.
