Police arrest Selma man for shooting
Published Saturday, July 4, 2009
Police arrested a Selma man Wednesday for a Saturday night shooting.
Officers apprehended Latrell Bell, 23, and charged him with assault second-degree and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
“Det. Sandra Washburn obtained a warrant based on probable cause,” Sgt. Doug Stewart said. “When she arrested Latrell Bell, he confessed to the shooting.”
The shooting took place at 10:45 p.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of Albert Street. It began when a 32-year-old male and 29-year-old male drove to the area. The 29-year-old left the car and walked up to Bell’s house according to police.
“When the 29-year-old walked up to the residence, another male approached the door with a gun pointed at the 29-year-old,” Stewart said. “The man ran back to the vehicle at which time the man opened fire on the vehicle.”
Bullets hit the car five times; one went through the vehicle and struck the 32-year-old in the back.
The victim drove back to his residence at Rangedale Apartments and called paramedics.
“The victim was treated for his injuries and ultimately transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center,” Stewart said.
Bell now faces a class-c felony for assault in the second degree and a class-b felony for shooting into an occupied vehicle.
If he is convicted for the assault, he could face one year and one day to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $15,000.
If he is convicted for shooting into an occupied vehicle, he could serve two to twenty years in prison and a fine of up to $30,000.
Officers placed Bell in the Dallas County Jail under two $30,000 bonds.

squirk, I really like to read your blogs, you hold nothing back and you tell it exactly like it is!!
However, be careful, cause there are alot of bloggers who can't seem to handle the truth, and they will gang up on you and try their best to belittle you, just ask eyeonyou!!
You hang in there, you have support, from the few of us that are still allowed to blog or haven't gotten tired of being bashed yet... LOL

There are also a lot of racist people who hide behind a computer and say racist and hurtful things (bama fan and eyeonyou). They try to taint a whole group of people because of a few nuckle heads. Hang in there all law abiding people (black, white, red and green).

so who was shot? The 29 yo at the door or the man holding a gun at the 29 yo? Was Bell shooting at the man holding the gun? Under the State's castle law, he may have been within his rights to protect himself and his property.

reason31,
I have not tried to taint anyone, and I don't really see where eyeonyou has either...........
Some of US speak the truth and others ( no, I'm not pointing at you) make excuses, and this is one of the biggest downfalls of society as a whole, all colors and nationalities, stop the blame game and take responsibility and respect others, stop expecting things when one does nothing to work and earn it.
Thanks and do so hope you have a blessed evening!!
