Selma man arrested for shooting into home
Published Friday, January 16, 2009
Gunshots directed at a house cut through a quiet, cold Thursday night.
Police arrested Jeffery Simmons, 27, and charged him with shooting into an occupied building. The arrest came within five hours of the incident.
“A 29 year-old male reported the shooting to police,” Sgt. Doug Stewart said. “He said Jeffery Simmons threw a bottle through a window of a home in the 2000 Block of Highland Ave. Then, people in the house heard gunshots.”
No one was hurt in the shooting, but two bullets were found lodged in a door and a wall.
The victim and Simmons, a resident of Orrville, are acquaintances, authorities said.
“[The victim] was able to give us a good vehicle description and a name,” Stewart said. “Officers began looking in the area for a matching car.”
Police located the vehicle in Felix Heights. Officers stopped the car, and Simmons was occupying it, Stewart said. Once officers found a gun, they arrested him.
The officers found a Llama .40-caliber gun and four live rounds.
Officers placed Simmons in the Dallas County Jail under a bond of $15,000.
Simmons now faces a Class B felony. If convicted, he could face two to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $30,000 under the Code of Alabama.

Give him 80 years. This will teach him and other criminals a lesson.

Jail time doesn't mean Squat to these Thugs! Prison is better to them than the streets. These thugs aren't scared to go to jail. Try cutting off his shooting hand. That will teach him a lesson. He might think twice before shooting again. It would also keep him from stealing and throwing up gang signs. Imagine how much better the US would be if you started cutting off fingers.

WHAT IF HE WOULD HAVE SHOOT A CHILD? PEOPLE NEED TO STOP WORRING ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO NAME THE STREETS. START WORRING ABOUT GETTING THE THUGS OFF THE STREETS AND MAKE SELMA A SAFER PLACE TO RAISE CHILDREN, THEY ARE OUR FUTURE, NOT THE THUGS. SELMA WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mustangsalley: If you were to look at the birth demographics in Selma and Dallas county you would see that thugs are going to be a bigger part of your future than safer places to raise your childern (unless you move). Looking at "google Earth" the other night, I noticed a new housing project on the old Rangeline road just below hwy 14. This is only a 100 yard dash from the Selma Mall. So, a shoplifting thug at the mall can be home and hiding under the bed in 9.4 seconds. One big problem is the system. If a father were to live in the home ( to be a rolemodel) the mother and the childern would be kicked out of the project. The old idea of giving someone a hand up has pretty much conceded defeat and is now considered a handout as it is. The demographic that is producing the vast majority of these thugs aren't making ANY attempt to acquiesce to the values held by the majority of a law abiding society. The naming of childern, music, and dress, just help ingrain differences rather than achieve a truly "post racial" America. popdukes12

Pitbullgyrl27-get real!!! He MAY not be in a gang, he MAY not be stealing, but come on, do you think he is Bill Cosby? He shot into an occupied house, how much respect should we give him? Who cares if we are stereo typing him? He is crap and that is that. We don't need him on our streets. Oh, and by the way, look at that tough look on his face in the picture. I wonder if he will make that face when he is bent over in jail.

Pitbull, I am a bit confused and concerned about your comment of "sharing some of the crimes I have gotten away with." Do you live the life where everyone is a criminal? Are you a criminal? Have you gotten away with crimes? If so, you should be ashamed and you should also realize that it is not a way of life. It is a disrespectful choice that you make. As for my comment on Bill Cosby, no I do not know him, most people did not know MLK, yet he gets respect in some areas. Yes, we all bleed the same, I am not saying we do not, however, EVERYONE judges, good or bad. When you shoot up a house, chances are it will not be good. When you see a woman that is dressed nice, and speaks eloquently, do you not judge her as probably being wealthy? When you read articles like yours where the grammar is lacking, do you not think, drop out? (Or maybe just Selma education.)

Ok, I'm sure he was a college educated, hard working citizen of Selma judging from his looks. I'm sure that gun was for protecting him from all the "bad guys" out there too. I'm sure his criminal record is squeeky clean too.

TO ALL: The fact of the matter is that this guy needs to go to jail for a very long time. He is a threat to society. There is no room for thugs in selma. We need to continue to send this message.
