Concordia inks 27 on signing day

Published Wednesday, February 4, 2009

Concordia hit Alabama hard — particularly G.W. Carver in Montgomery, Dothan and Greene County and — to round out its 2009 recruiting class.

The Hornets signed five G.W. Carver players, including running backs Mason Tillman and Keldrian Richardson, receiver Jeff Alexander, defensive back Chandler Moore and defensive lineman Rashad Gordon.

Dothan and Greene County proved to be the Hornets’ second-most fertile recruiting grounds, producing four signees apiece.

Dothan quarterback Joe Coachman — the headliner of the class — will be joined by familiar faces in receiver Alex Gutzmore, quarterback Lazaro Aguilar and linebacker Brandon Jones.

Offensive linemen Hakieem Roscoe and Jarvis Ravizee lead the way for Greene County, followed by linebacker John Bullock and defensive lineman Leon Smith.

Running back C.C. Lucas, linebacker Terrell Baugh and offensive lineman Nick Wilson represent Tanner High School.

Central-Tuscaloosa, Talladega County, McAdory and Fairfield High each produced two Concordia signees.

Defensive lineman Kieandre Simon and linebacker Trenton Ross represent Tuscaloosa. Talladega County is sending defensive backs Steven Henderson and Latonio Meadows. McAdory receiver Darrell Jackson and offensive lineman LaDedrick Norfleet will compete for playing time. Quarterback Qualin Young and offensive lineman Jared Giles will make the move from Fairfield.

The class is rounded out by Athens linebacker Brandon Miller, Alma Bryant defensive back Sylvester Lumpkin and Atlanta, Ga. quarterback Duane Swift Jr.

Now if they can make their grades, have the required ACT score...No, wait a minute, they don't have to any of that. I forgot. This is Concordia we're talking about here!
