Tuscaloosa tames Meadowview

Remember those names. Meadowview Christian Academy players and fans heard them plenty of times Friday night.

With TD passes of 11, 10, 16 and 25 yards, Tuscaloosa added two second-half scores to a 21-7 halftime lead.

Meadowview head coach Kenny Strong said the Trojans were playing for pride Friday.

“The good thing is it’s a pride game,” Strong said. “It’s not a division game that will count against us going into the playoffs. Instead of a jamboree, we decided to play a tough opponent.”

Meadowview scored in the first quarter on a 4-yard run by Davis Jones. Marc McElhaney’s PAT kick tied the score at 7-7.

Strong had coached at Tuscaloosa for three years. While there, he was on the sideline against Meadowview when the Knights were blanked 73-0.

Tuscaloosa coach Wayne Brantley said he was worried at first.

“The main thing I was concerned about was coming down here and being focused,” he said. “But it worked out for us.”
