Deputies find lost poll worker

Lincoln Moore gave officials a bit of a scare Tuesday night.

Moore, 84, worked as an inspector at the Shiloh poll in Sardis during Tuesday's runoff election.

Capt. Randy Pugh of the Dallas County Sheriff's office said Moore left the polling place about 7:40 after he locked up the old school with other polliing officials and got disoriented.

Authorities searched for him for about 2 1/2 hours. They found him out on U.S. 80 trying to get some gas, Pugh said. Moore still had the election materials in his truck.

"He just had a sick spell, as he put it, and got disoriented," said Pugh, "but we've taken care of him. I'm just glad we found him."

Probate Judge Kim Ballard got the word Moore had been found shortly after 10 p.m.

"I know Mr. Moore personally," said Ballard. "He's a fine gentleman that has worked the polls for many, many years. I hope and pray he's going to be fine."
