Pedestrian killed on I-85

OPELIKA — The Lee County coroner said a man was killed overnight after being struck by a car while walking along Interstate 85.
Bill Harris said the 51-year-old man was retrieving items that fell off his sport utility vehicle when he was hit by a vehicle. The accident occurred at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Harris declined to release the man's name because next-of-kin had not been notified.
No charges were filed against the driver.
Opelika Police are handling the investigatio
