Gospel Tabernacle Church on Summerfield Road is doing its part to help victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Irma in Florida.

The church has collected more than 100 cases of water, cleaning supplies, canned goods, clothes, diapers and other items for victims.

“It [was] the church’s goal to fill a whole tractor trailer by this weekend before the trucks roll out to Texas on Monday,” said pastor John Grayson.

Grayson thanked local businesses and schools for their support in the effort.

The ministry was done in step with the national Church of God in Christ charities, which paid for the expense of transporting the items to Hurricane-affected areas.

“All the items and money collected will reach the people who need it most. There’s nothing taken out for staff or transportation,” Grayson said.
