A conference to empower women is coming back to the Carl C. Morgan Convention Center for the second-year next week.

Evelyn Scott, co-pastor of New Shady Grove the Word Ministry, said last year’s conference was such a hit, they decided to do it again.

“We got so many rave reviews, so we were asked to put it on again this year,” Scott said. “A lot of women were helped, set free and delivered. I prayed about it, and this is what God has led me to do again this year for Selma, Dallas County and the surrounding area.”

The conference will be Saturday, Aug. 26 at 3 p.m., and the theme is “Blue Jeans and Bling.”

“We’re going to have music, I’ll be bringing the word of God, and we’re also going to be singing and fellowshipping together at the end, so it’s going to be an exciting event,” Scott said. “We’re just asking everybody to come out and be blessed and give God the glory, give him praise and let him do what he does best.”

Scott said the planning for the second annual “I Am Every Woman” conference has been going on since last year, and she is excited the event is almost here.

“We started planning last year for this event knowing we were going to be doing it again this year,” she said. “There’s a lot of planning with music, lighting, catering, getting people to do different things … a videographer, a photographer.”

Scott said she hopes this year’s conference will be just as successful as last year’s.

“I’m really excited. The closer it gets the more excited I get because I have people coming from out of town, a lot of family that is coming in from Georgia, co-workers that are coming in, and of course our church family has been very, very supportive of the vision,” she said.

Scott said she hopes women walk away empowered and energized.

“I want them to walk away changed, renewed and with a new outlook on life,” Scott said. “I want them to know that if they stay on the path that God has placed them on, they will have what they should have, they will be who God says they’re supposed to be.”

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling Scott at (334) 518-0262.
