ORRVILLE — It’s rare for the Keith girls basketball game to lose a game in Orrville. On Tuesday, the Bears showed that they don’t plan to make a habit out of it.

Led by Shatavia Moore, Keith bounced back from last week’s loss to Selma with a 52-15 win over Dallas County.

“It’s nice to get the monkey off your back and get the first win and also see things we need to work on,” said Keith coach Cecil Williams.

Moore had a game high 24 points, with many of them coming off offensive rebounds. Jakyra Simmons scored 12 points, including two 3-pointers for the Bears.

Keith led 29-7 at halftime and 39-15 after the third quarter.

J’kiera Patterson led Dallas County with six points. She hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the third quarter to give the Hornets a spark, but it ended up being short lived.

While Keith was playing its second straight home game, Dallas County (0-1) opened its season Tuesday.

“I think we got started late. We didn’t click when we needed to. You could tell they were experienced, they had played a game and they were a game ahead of us,” said Dallas County coach Brandon Holmes.

“For the most part, we just didn’t do the small things tonight, as far as box out, rebound with two hands, push the ball back to put pressure on the defense.”
