According to a press release from the Selma Police Department, officers learned during the investigation that the teacher allegedly had intercourse with a student multiple times and at different locations, including at the school.

“Unfortunately, this is starting not to be a rare occurrence around here. This is one of the worst violations of the public trust when a teacher has sex with a student,” said district attorney Michael Jackson.

Lt. Sam Miller with the Selma Police Department said Wilson has been employed at Selma High School since January 2016. The video, which allegedly featured Wilson performing a solo sex act, was recorded in April, Miller said.

Miller said the relationship between Wilson and the 15-year-old student has been ongoing for at least six months.

Selma City Schools Superintendent Angela Mangum said Wilson has resigned. Mangum sent out a statement through a press release Friday afternoon.

“Once the incident was reported, swift and immediate action was taken to remove the teacher from the school to ensure the safety of students,” Mangum said. ” As the superintendent, it is my responsibility to protect all students from harm. I will not tolerate any misconduct towards students, and I will promptly act in their defense.”

Mangum said the primary goal of the Selma City School System is to provide a safe and secure environment for all students.

“All of our employees are trained on how to perform their roles and responsibilities with professionalism and integrity,” Mangum said. ” The behavior of this teacher is not align with the values, core beliefs, and mission of our district.”

The case is still under investigation.
