Meadowview Christian’s Justin McGuire started the game by hitting two 3-pointers, and the Trojans never looked back.

The Meadowview Christian Trojans (17-8) moved on to the Alabama Christian Athletic Association’s Division I state semifinals with a 67-42 win over Cornerstone Christian Thursday in Oxford. Justin outscored Cornerstone 14-10 in the first quarter in a game that was decided quickly.

“We scored 24 points in the first quarter, and then it was really just working on our game after that,” said Meadowview head coach John Robert Morton.

Sam Dabit added 16 points and Kaymon McGuire had 10 points for the Trojans. The Trojans led 33-21 at halftime, but Dabit’s 11 third-quarter points gave the Trojans a 54-29 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

“It was full speed the entire time,” Morton said. “We shot the ball well, shot free throws, stayed out of foul trouble and really took advantage of being more athletic than the other team was.”

Meadowview faces Union Chapel in the semifinals Friday at 6:15 p.m. at the Oxford Civic Center.
