Roundup: Southside, Dallas Co. girls lose

Southside’s girls’ basketball team saw its season end Monday night against Thomasville in the first round of the class 4A, area 3 tournament.

The Panthers trailed 16-8 at halftime and couldn’t regain the lead in a 37-25 defeat.

Christina Watts led Southside with nine points in the game and Destiny Davis added another seven for the Panthers.

Southside led 5-2 at the end of the first quarter but was outscored 11-3 in the second period.

Asleigh Kidd and Tiyanna Blanks scored 11 points apiece to lead Thomasville to the win.

 

Demopolis 53, Dallas County 23 (Girls)

The Dallas County girls fell to Demopolis 53-23 in the first round of the class 5A, area 6 tournament Monday night. The Hornets saw their season end as a result.
