Roundup: MA loses in Tuscaloosa Tournament

Morgan Academy (4-3) fell to Tuscaloosa Academy Saturday for the second time this season in the Tuscaloosa Academy Tournament championship game. 

The Senators couldn’t keep up with the Knights in a 63-35 loss.

Sawyer Hopkins scored 10 points and had five rebounds to lead the way for Morgan Academy.  Jackson Henderson added five points and Terrence Wilson and Cameron Bohannon each scored four points.

Harrison Adams had seven rebounds to lead Morgan’s effort on the boards.

Hopkins and Adams were named to the all-tournament team.

 

Selma 57, Anniston 40 (Girls)

Selma’s Jamya Smith hit six 3-pointers and scored 22 points Saturday to lead the Saints to a 57-40 win over Anniston.

Jacquetta Dailey added another 12 points for Selma, which outscored Anniston 16-4 in the fourth quarter to pull away in a close game. Selma led only 28-26 at halftime and 42-36 after the third quarter.

Areyana Williams also scored eight points for Selma.

Selma (10-1) will host Hillcrest on Tuesday.

 

Dallas County 58, Calhoun 49 (Boys)

Andre Hall scored 15 points and Henry Baker added 10 more as Dallas County defeated Calhoun 58-49 on Thursday evening. The teams play a rematch in Plantersville Tuesday.

 

Anniston 57, Selma 45 (Boys)

Selma lost to Anniston 57-45 on Saturday on the road. No stats were provided for this game.

 

Dallas County 75, West Blocton 58 (Boys)

Andre Hall led three Dallas County players in double figures in a 75-58 victory over West Blocton Friday.

Hall scored 15 points and Kareem Ross and Floyd Crusoe each scored 10 points apiece for the Hornets.

 

Booker T. Washington 63, Dallas County 51 (Boys)

Booker T. Washington overcame an eight point halftime deficit to defeat Dallas County 63-51 on Saturday night in Plantersville.

Henry Baker scored 13 points to lead the Hornets and Timothy Baker had eight points.
