Beginning Dec. 7 and continuing through Dec. 19, the Old Depot Museum’s annual Holiday House fundraiser will be at the Larry D. Striplin Performing Arts Center.

With more then 30 vendors at this year’s shopping attraction, organizer Candi Duncan said it is sure to be a hit.

“I think it’s a good thing for the community because you have a wide selection of vendors in one place,” Duncan said.

“It’s like going to a retail store except it helps the Old Depot Museum No. 1, and No. 2, you’ve got such a variety of items you can purchase. It helps the people that are the vendors there.”

With Christmas only a few weeks away, Duncan said it’s the perfect time to check off the Christmas list.

“It runs all the way from unique Christmas ornaments with hand painted designs and buildings in Selma to hair bows and jewelry and wine glasses,” Duncan said. “We try to have mostly handmade things.”

The sale benefits the Old Depot Museum, and museum director Beth Spivey said it’s one of the biggest fundraisers that they have each year.

“Besides the Low Country Boil, this is our biggest fundraiser,” Spivey said. “With all the renovations I have planned for the museum, I really need the profits from the Holiday House. It’s really exciting because most of the people only sell these goods this one time a year.”

Besides the renovations that still need to be done inside the building, Spivey said she has a few other ideas on how to use the money.

“I would love to have one of those big signs to let people know that we’re open because the little sign at the door is not very welcoming,” Spivey said.

The Holiday House will be open Dec. 7-19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
