Jerry Worthington, president of Bush Hog, presents Joy and Dickie Blondheim, cofounders of the Joy to Life Foundation, a $10,000 check from Bush Hogs recent “Mow Down Breast Cancer” campaign.

Since February, Bush Hog and the Joy to Life Foundation have been working to “Mow Down Breast Cancer.”

In February, Bush Hog kicked off the fundraiser by giving people all over the United States the opportunity to win the Bush Hog ES2052 pink zero turn mower. People could donate $10 for the chance to win the mower with the proceeds going directly to the Joy to Life Foundation, an Alabama based breast cancer organization.

“We have several people in our Bush Hog family that have experienced breast cancer in the past, and we were looking for a partner to raise some funds for and do something for the cause. The Joy to Life Foundation was a perfect partner for us,” said Jerry Worthington, president of Bush Hog.

“They’re an Alabama-based company, and all the money stays in Alabama, so we we’re very happy to join with them and donate some money to their cause.”

In the end, Bush Hog raised $10,000 for the foundation.

“As a breast cancer survivor myself, it means everything to me that companies like Bush Hog support breast cancer awareness,” said Joy Blondheim cofounder and director Joy to Life.

“We are beyond thankful to Bush Hog. For a national company like this, located in Selma, to think about the Joy to Life Foundation and think about saving lives in Alabama, it means everything to us. We thank them with all of our hearts and I’m not sure that will ever be enough to say thank you to them.”

Worthington said he was happy to team up with Joy to Life and he is looking forward to working with them again in the future.

“We have several people in our Bush Hog family that have experienced breast cancer in the past, and we were looking for a partner to raise some funds for and do something for the cause and the Joy to Life Foundation was a perfect partner for us,” Worthington said.

“It’s not only exciting for us, we think it’s an honor that we can find a company that we can partner with that’s this much dedicated to helping under served women especially in Alabama, do something that we can give back to the community and do something that everybody can get behind.”

Blongheim said she is thankful for the support from Bush Hog and how many people the donations will be able to help.

“As the director and cofounder of the Joy to Life Foundation, this means everything to us. To get money like this, to help save lives, is just spectacular. We could never say thank you enough,” Blondheim said.

“The money they give to us is so impactful because it helps women in all counties of Alabama. Our tagline is ‘live here give here’ and so when companies like Bush Hog decide that they want to support us and support just people in Alabama, it means the world to us.”

The winner of the mower was Roy Fritts of Waynesville, Mississippi.
