Southside boys win basketball opener

Southside opened basketball season Tuesday night with a 82-61 victory over Calhoun.

The Panthers (1-0) were led in scoring by Lee Underwood, who had 26 points. He was one of four players in double figures for Southside.

Charles Price added 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Kentavius Page scored 11 points. Nick Bennett scored 10 points off the bench.

Southside will play at Wilcox Central on Friday night. The Panthers will play their first home game Nov. 17 against Calhoun.

 

Southside girls lose close opener to Calhoun

Kionah Page scored 22 points to lead Southside, but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers fell to Calhoun 52-46 Tuesday night.

Page also added four rebounds and four steals as part of an impressive performance by the Panthers (0-1).

Christina Watts also had a great game as she scored 17 points and added three rebounds and five steals for Southside.

Diamond Baskin and Destiny Davis each also scored three points for Southside.
