The Koran and our Constitution

The big dust-up this week is about the statement Dr. Ben Carson made in reference to a hypothetical question on supporting a Muslim for president. Personally, I find no fault in what he said. It is his opinion and Dr. Carson has every right to express it and act out his convictions. Since when in this country do we deny a person the right to free thought and free speech? Surely, that too hasn’t changed under the Obama doctrine.

It is my understanding that Islam is a cultural, religious and political system.

That being the case, how could our Judeo-Christian influenced Constitution be compatible with the Koran and Islam?

So far, Dr. Carson is the only candidate, Democrat or Republican, who has said he couldn‘t support a Muslim for president. The other candidates have hid under political correctness by saying the Constitution does not require a religious litmus test to be president.

Perhaps not, but neither does Supreme Court appointees have a litmus test to be considered and we know how that works out. They are appointed having a preconceived ideology and judge accordingly for their lifetime.

The oath of office for president requires to the best of ability, to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

As far as I know, there is no provision for being the President and having an allegiance to some other form of government, or at least there shouldn‘t be.

Ultimately, the hypothetical question of whether a Muslim should be President will rest in the hands of the American voters.

I know how I would vote, and I believe there are many more of the same persuasion. We have spent an enormous amount of precious blood and borrowed treasure fighting the radical elements of Islam for the past 13 years. I grieve for the families who have lost loved ones trying to make a better life for those in the Middle East. The very sad part of all of this is we are farther from that goal now than when we first started. The Middle East is in shambles due to ISIS and other radical groups of Muslims, and our miserably failed strategy to deal with it.

We live in a much too unpredictable world to be experimenting with the very future of our Republic just to be politically correct. As a matter of fact, the liberal agenda has the most to lose with a government led by a Muslim. All the advances made during the Obama Administration could be wiped out.
