Dallas County Probate Judge Kim Ballard said he was informed that the semi truck hit the back of a dump truck, knocking it airborne.

The dump truck is used to carry asphalt and was coming back from a paving project and was following a backhoe when the accident happened, according to Ballard.

Edwards said that Care Ambulance, Potter’s Station Volunteer Fire Department, Selma Fire Department, Alabama State Troopers and the Alabama Highway Department responded to the call.

King said more information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
