Alabama State Troopers are investigating a traffic accident in Safford Friday afternoon that killed three people.

According to Senior Trooper Chuck Daniel, the two-vehicle accident happened around 11:30 a.m. Friday morning on Alabama Highway 5.

Daniel along with Dallas County Coroner Alan Dailey confirmed three people were killed in the accident, but their names have not been released yet.

According to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson, the accident involved a large truck and at least one car. Jackson said one of the vehicles caught fire.

Daniel said more details are expected to be released later tonight.
