The Central Alabama Fair pageants are just a couple of months away and deadlines for participants are fast approaching.

“The Central Alabama Fair Pageants are a long time tradition,” said associate director of the pageant Rachel Graham. “We have girls in the tiny and little pageants wearing the same heirloom dresses their mothers wore when they were in the pageants.”

All pageants will take place under the pavilion at the Selma Lions Club Fair Park during the week of the fair. The first pageants, including the Miss Central Alabama Fair pageant, will take place Monday, Oct. 3.

Applications are due Aug. 31 and are available on the fair’s Facebook page by searching “Central Alabama Fair” and on the fair’s website at centralalabamafair.com.

There will be six age groups for contestants, which range in age from 3 to 21.

The groups age are Tiny Miss (3- to 4-year-olds), Little Miss (5- to 6-year-olds), Petite Miss (7- to 9-year-olds), Young Miss (10- to 12-year-olds), Junior Miss (13- to 16-year-olds) and Miss Central Alabama Fair (17- to 21-year-olds).

Winners and alternates are selected for each age group, and prizes vary by the age groups.

There will also be an optional photogenic category.
