The 2015 youth baseball and softball season is off to a rainy start.

The season was supposed to kick off Friday but thunderstorms soaked fields at the Dallas County Sportsplex and Baseball Complex, forcing the Selma Recreation Department to cancel games.

Officials from the recreation department will analyze the fields at first daylight Saturday and make a final decision on whether games will be played.

As of Friday afternoon, interim director of the recreation department Lebo Jones said games are still on for Saturday.

Forecasts do not predict rain for the Selma area Saturday.

An announcement is expected Monday about the rescheduling of Friday’s games.
