There certainly won’t be a boring weekend in Selma in April.

Warm weather has moved in and April’s calendar is packed full of events hoping that it’ll stick around. Every weekend for the rest of the month is loaded with family friendly events.

The April Walking Tours, which give visitors an introduction to Selma, started Saturday and will run through April 25.

The Little Friends Fish Fry Fundraiser, which benefits Little Friends School is April 9.

The Low Country Boil at the Old Depot Museum is set for April 16. Always one of spring’s most ancitipated events, this year the boil will include a live band for the first time and will give participants a chance to take a fresh look at the meseum, which is always being upgraded. Proceeds from the event benefit the museum.

Relay for Life, which benefits the American Cancer Society’s, will be held April 17 at Memorial Stadium. Those participating will be raising money in the fight against cancer.

Anyone who love a good treasure hunt will enjoy the Historic Highway 80 Yard Sale that will take place April 17-18. The Butterflies and Bridges 8K will also be April 18, with proceeds benefiting Selma High School’s athletic programs and if that isn’t enough, Michael Johnson’s Youth Football and Cheer Camp will also be that Saturday.

The next week is the start of the Battle of Selma Re-enactment, which will run from April 23-26. The Rock N’ Ribs Benefit will also be that weekend on April 25.

We encourage the community to get out to as many of these events as possible. Not only are many of them fundraisers supporting worthwhile causes, but they’re also a chance to enjoy the company of others in Selma.
