The Arsenal Place Accelerator continues to help small business owners establish themselves by offering support and guidance.

Meghan Stewart, owner of Meghan Stewart Photography, can testify to that after six months at the downtown business accelerator.

“I thought it was a great opportunity for me to be visible in the city but also have help because I’m navigating a whole new town,” Stewart said. “The resources have been great, and it’s awesome to also have people to bounce ideas off of.”

Stewart said she has enjoyed her time at Arsenal Place so far, and she is thankful for the friends she has made and people who have helped her along the way.

“I think for all the questions that I’ve asked, they’ve been there for me,” Stewart said.

“There’s really awesome people here, and their heart is to help.”

Back in October, Stewart decided to pick up and move from Jacksonville Beach, Fla. to Selma. She packed up her camera gear and traveled the more than 400 miles to the Queen City to be with her family.

“I think [I decided to relocate] for two reasons,” Stewart said. “One, my mom’s family is here so we’re almost all together finally, and it’s always been my dream to have a big family. Also, there’s a lot of really good things going on in Selma, and I just kind of felt like I was supposed to come be a part of all the exciting stuff.”

Stewart has been involved with photography for nine years now, turning her passion into a full time job. She has experience with weddings, families, children, seniors and more.

“I like telling people’s stories and really capturing who they are,” Stewart said. “It’s really important to me. We get so busy and forget that it’s in the simple moments that really makes our life awesome, and that’s what I want to capture.”
