Dallas County High School’s Lowell Furlow and Xaver Knight will graduate this spring, but they’ll still be staying teammates.

Furlow and Knight both committed to Tennessee Tech Monday night and will sign letters of intent to play football with the Golden Eagles on Wednesday, according to Hornets head coach Marty Smith.

Furlow originally committed to Southern Mississippi in the fall, but the decision ended up coming down to Troy and Tennessee Tech for the big offensive tackle, who is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com. Smith said in a previous interview with the Times-Journal that Furlow decommitted from Southern Mississippi in part because he was concerned about playing time, although that wasn’t the only factor.

Surgery to repair a torn labrum cut Furlow’s 2014 football season short, but he has recovered and is once again a main cog on the Hornets’ basketball team, which won the class 4A state championship in 2014.

Knight, who was recruited as a defensive back and special teams player, also had an offer from Birmingham Southern. Knight is rated as a two-star prospect on Rivals.

Like Furlow, Knight also excels in other sports. He  finished second in the 110-meter hurdles at the AHSAA’s class 4A-6A state track championships in May.
